Things to do on the South Bank this week

Updated Thursday 15 October. 37 listings, checked this morning.

The South Bank is the stretch of riverside between Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars, home to the Southbank Centre, the National Theatre and BFI Southbank, with Tate Modern a little further east.

A lot of it is free: the riverside walk, free foyer music and exhibitions, and talks and events through the week. The paid venues often have cheaper tickets for young people too, so check each one.

Getting there

A lot of these are near Covent Garden, Blackfriars, Westminster, Charing Cross and Southwark. Every listing shows its nearest station and the walk from it, and the event page works out your journey there and home from any postcode.

Waterloo is the main station. From the north bank, the Golden Jubilee footbridges from Embankment are the nicest way across.

The main stations are Waterloo, Embankment, Southwark and Blackfriars.
