Great events in London for under £5

Updated Thursday 15 October. 36 listings, checked this morning.

A fiver doesn’t buy much in London, except a surprisingly good night out. New material comedy, pub gigs, film clubs, talks, quizzes and drop-in classes all come in at £5 or less if you know where to look.

Everything here is paid but £5 or under for the cheapest ticket this week, from the venues’ own listings, checked this morning. Free things are on the free guide; ticket sites can add a small booking fee.

Getting there

A lot of these are near Bank, Alexandra Palace, Barnes Bridge, Cambridge Heath (London) and Elephant & Castle. Every listing shows its nearest station and the walk from it, and the event page works out your journey there and home from any postcode.

Pay as you go with contactless or Oyster caps your fares for the day, so the fare never costs more than the night.

Buses are a flat fare, and with the Hopper fare you can change buses within an hour without paying again.
