Cheap comedy in London

Updated Monday 12 October. 33 listings, checked this morning.

London has more comedy on any given night than anywhere else in the country, and a lot of the best of it is cheap. New material nights, open mics and work-in-progress shows are where comics try out what ends up on TV, and they often cost a few pounds or nothing at all.

These are comedy shows for £10 or less over the next two weeks, from the clubs’ and venues’ own listings, checked this morning. Free nights often fill up, so get there early or book if there’s an option.

Getting there

A lot of these are near Angel, Covent Garden, Camden Town, Elephant & Castle and Hoxton. Every listing shows its nearest station and the walk from it, and the event page works out your journey there and home from any postcode.

Most comedy nights finish between 10pm and 11pm. Each event page shows your journey home from the venue, including the last trains.

The Night Tube runs on Friday and Saturday nights on lines including the Victoria, Jubilee and most of the Central, Northern and Piccadilly lines, and night buses run every night.
