Photography friendly things to do in London

Updated Thursday 15 October. 28 listings, checked this morning.

Things to do with a camera, or just a phone: photo walks and workshops, light shows and trails, fireworks and street art tours, from the organisers’ own listings this week.

Underneath are places that are always worth the walk with a camera: free viewpoints over the City, parks, gardens, river boats and riverside walks, and the illusion and light shows made to be photographed. Places of worship and anywhere that bans photos inside are left out.

Getting there

A lot of these are near Monument, St. Paul's, Westminster and Woolwich. Every listing shows its nearest station and the walk from it, and the event page works out your journey there and home from any postcode.

Of the free viewpoints in the City, Sky Garden and Horizon 22 need booking ahead and the Garden at 120 doesn’t. The best light is early morning or the last hour before sunset.

The Uber Boat river bus takes contactless and Oyster, and is one of the cheapest ways to photograph the Thames from the water.
